As a long-time investor, I thought I´d encountered virtually all of the problems one can encounter in buying or selling real estate.However, my experience with an estate property I recently had to sell gave me a new appreciation for the value of an experienced, dedicated Realtor;something we sometimes take for granted.
I had to quickly get the property listed before leaving on a long-scheduled thirty day trip abroad.To compound matters, I live in Florida, had never owned the property and knew little about the market in Georgia.After checking websites in the Greater Atlanta area, I decided to give Lauren a last minute call to see if she'd list the property.
In speaking with Lauren, my immediate instinct was that she completely understood what I was trying to accomplish in selling the property.She promptly did the research on comparables, personally inspected the property and faxed the listing agreement to usthe evening before we departed.We faxed her our itinerary hoping we´d have an offer by the time we got home.
In less than two weeks we had an offer.However, because of some unusual contract stipulations and a buyer and lender seemingly indifferent to the closing date, it looked like the deal would never happen.I needn´t have worried.Lauren took over and started making things happen.Either by email or phone, she kept us abreast of the frequent issues that kept popping up with the buyer and lender.Due to her tenacity, the deal was closed shortly after our return to Florida.At this writing, I have not yet met Lauren personally.However, I regard her as a friend and look forward to meeting her on my next visit to Atlanta.
